John Honeyman & Keppie designed a four-storey tenement with two-storey rear wing for Mrs Sarah McGuire. The ground floor contained a pub and a shop in the front building on the Gallowgate, and single-room flats – known as 'single ends' – at the rear. On the upper floors were a combination of single-room and 'room-and-kitchen' flats, which were accessed from galleries overlooking the back court.

Authorship: This is one of over 270 jobs carried out in the office of John Honeyman & Keppie (Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh from 1901) during Mackintosh's time there. Mackintosh undoubtedly worked on many of these, but although there is one brief annotation in Mackintosh's hand on one of the drawings, there is no evidence for any substantive involvement in this case.

Cost from office job book: £3135 19s 4½d
