M051 Design for addition to The Cliff, Wemyss Bay

Address: Cliff Terrace Road, Wemyss Bay PA18 6AP
Date: 1891–2
Client: Stewart Clark
Authorship: Authorship category 4 (Office) (Office)

Site visits and a payment of twelve guineas are recorded in John Honeyman & Keppie's records. However, no tenders or payments are recorded in the job books, so it is not clear whether an addition to the stables at The Cliff was carried out. John Honeyman designed the house in 1874 for a Henry Martini, and in the 1880s carried out alterations on it for Stewart Clark. 1

Authorship: This is one of over 270 jobs carried out in the office of John Honeyman & Keppie (Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh from 1901) during Mackintosh's time there. Mackintosh undoubtedly worked on many of these, but there is no specific evidence for his involvement in this case.

Status: Unbuilt?
