Mackintosh made significant alterations to this 1860s terraced house when he and Margaret Macdonald bought it in 1906. He added new windows and a new front door, and carried out extensive structural changes which transformed the major interior spaces.

Authorship: Drawings in Mackintosh's hand show the intended alterations, electrical wiring, fittings and furniture.

1: When writing to Mrs Jean Davidson in early 1919, concerning the potential sale of 6 Florentine Terrace to William Davidson, Margaret Macdonald estimated that the renovation work and installation of electric light in 1906 had cost over £800 while the fittings had amounted to an additional £100.
