Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh made alterations to the billiard room at this large terraced townhouse of solicitor James Muirhead. Work was carried out around the same time as neighbour F. J. Shand first consulted Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh about making a design for Auchinibert, a large house in a rural setting at Killearn, Stirlingshire.
In 1893, the family of Muirhead's wife, Robina (née Spencer), had commissioned the practice to make alterations to Edgehill. 1
Authorship: This is one of over 270 jobs carried out in the office ofJohn Honeyman & Keppie (Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh from 1901) during Mackintosh's time there. Mackintosh undoubtedly worked on many of these, but there is no specific evidence for his involvement in this case.
