Mrs Mary Hewett


Mrs Mary Hewett founded theGuild of Aid in South Coburg Street, Glasgow with her husband the Reverend Edward Balvaird Hewett in 1887. Her enthusiasm and hard work reportedly helped enormously towards the success and effectiveness of the Guild's work in the Gorbals. She continued as manager of the Guild of Aid until 1910, six years after the death of her husband, when she moved to London with her daughter. She died in 1936. 1
