John Honeyman & Keppie made additions to provide W.C.s on the ground floor of two two-storey tenements on Water Street and on the first, second and third floors at the stairwell of the four-storey tenement on Forth Street. These additions were made in line with the 1892 Burgh Police (Scotland) Act which required that, where not already existing, an indoor water supply, indoor water closets and drainage should be introduced to every domestic building. 1
